Thank you for considering White Thread! I’m truly honored to be part of your wedding journey and to help ensure your gown fits flawlessly. I've altered hundreds of gowns and made dozens of custom dresses. I'm very familiar with designers such as Jenny Yoo, Essense of Australia, Allure, and more. To make everything stress-free, here’s an overview of my process and what you can expect. I require each bride to have 3 fittings minimum. When to Schedule

I recommend booking your first fitting 4–6 months before your wedding. At this appointment, I’ll assess all the alterations your gown needs and provide an estimate. Typical alterations average around $700, and payment for alterations is due at your first fitting. *Payment plans can be discussed*

Custom Design Options

I’m able to add a variety of custom touches to your gown, such as sleeves, skirt overlays, linings, and breakaway skirts. During your first fitting, we can review ideas together, look at fabrics, and even sketch design options.

First Fitting

4-6 months before wedding

I’ll fit the bodice and create a detailed alteration plan.
No shoes are needed yet — just bring your gown and any shapewear you’ll wear.
You’re welcome to bring your shoes, jewelry, or veil. If you don't have a veil yet, I can help you design a custom one! See details below

Second Fitting

2–3 months before the wedding

I’ll check all bodice alterations, pin your hem, and confirm your bustle.

I keep seam allowances inside the dress until final pickup, so adjustments can be made if your body changes. If I need to let out or take in a seam more than once, you will not be charged twice.
Shoes are required for this fitting.

Final Fitting

about 3 weeks before the wedding

The hem will be cut (but not finished yet, in case last-minute changes are needed).
I’ll perform a full check of your gown.
I’ll demonstrate how to complete your bustle and encourage you to bring a family member or friend to learn as well.
Shoes are required for this fitting.

Complimentary Finishing Touches

Your gown will be steamed and carefully stuffed with tissue and a bust form for safe travels.
Pickup is typically scheduled the week of your wedding.
For destination weddings, I can wrap your gown and accessories for travel in luggage.

Appointment Details

Each fitting is scheduled for about an hour, though most last 30–40 minutes. Please let me know your preferred time for the first fitting, and I’ll reserve your appointment.

Custom Veils

Your veil should feel as special and personal as your gown. I design custom veils beginning at $300 for a clean, classic look, with the option to add lace details for an additional cost. You may choose from lace I carefully source for you, or bring lace from a family gown or vintage dress to weave a meaningful heirloom into your design.
